Whenever I see a dead bird in my backyard, I feel sad. I consider this backyard with its flowers and shrubs and birdfeeder and birdbath to be a sanctuary for birds, bees, and butterflies. Those little creatures are welcome here. This morning I was out mowing the lawn […]
Writer, Award-Winning Author, and Certified Editor
I'm an award-winning author with 25 years writing experience, and I'm also a certified editor that has a BA in English. I know about writing and I know about publishing. Two of my books are traditionally published and I published three independently. I've worked with editors, designers, and publishers to create books I'm proud of.
I post to my WordPress blog weekly and create audio to go along with each post. For this, I use Audacity. Recently, I've helped clients preserve their family stories in digital text form and in audio interviews. I've had several years of experience as a newspaper columnist, and I still contribute to the local newspaper.
My passion is storytelling. I especially enjoy history around which I can weave a colourful narrative. The volunteer editing work I began in August is showing me that while I love telling stories, I'm also engaged by the editing process.
I'd love to hear about your fiction or non-fiction project. Please get in touch and let's talk about how we can make your work shine!
I Love Social Media I love social media like I love salty potato chips! Even better, social media is like eating salty potato chips with interesting people from all over the world. When I consider leaving most social media platforms, I already miss those engaging people. I know. […]
Here is a collection of some of my best lake pictures. I have to give credit to my husband’s cousin, Dale, who took these photos of Anglin Lake in northern Saskatchewan: We’re lucky to have a pretty, little lake nearby. There are pelicans and gulls, beavers and […]
“I thought about the hopes each of them may harbor. How, basically, everyone wants to live a life free from fear. A life where they have a home and food, and the means to procure both, with a little money and time left over for what they enjoy. […]
This photo blog is lovely, but it is also a cop-out. This is me still avoiding writing about Anthony Bourdain’s suicide that took place on June 8th in a hotel room in France. Many of the pieces I’ve read about the incident state that Bourdain was staying in […]
Here’s an interesting writer who engagingly and generously shares her experience of dying. We’ve all got to do it sooner or later, and I sure appreciate the wisdom passed along by folks like Susan. Be sure to check out her posts and site here on WordPress. (Her photos […]
What a glorious time of year! Over time I’ve gathered some flower and garden pictures from my travels and from right here at home. Even the simplest prairie gardens are enchanted plots teeming with life in this northern place where the growing season is so short. These first […]
During the summer, my time opens up. Suddenly, I’ve got more time to write, to visit, to just sit and do nothing, an activity of which I’m very fond. There’s time to wander around with my camera and wait for the birds to hold still. There’s time to […]
I love it when we do this! This Saturday morning we got up at a half-decent time, and I packed the cooler full of snacks and pop. We grabbed our hats, my camera, and bug spray, and we headed out into the great beyond! Well, first to Provost, […]
Being manipulated by a man never felt so right. About five years ago now I threw a 70th birthday party for my dad. For the first time, I’d created a huge power point presentation – more like a movie than a slideshow. As a result of the work […]
