The other day as I washed the pine boards of the kitchen floor, I yearned for the smooth resiliency of linoleum. It’s durable, easy to clean, and it’s completely out of style. During renovation and house-hunting shows on TV, linoleum gets the same disgusted reaction as […]
Writer, Award-Winning Author, and Certified Editor
I'm an award-winning author with 25 years writing experience, and I'm also a certified editor that has a BA in English. I know about writing and I know about publishing. Two of my books are traditionally published and I published three independently. I've worked with editors, designers, and publishers to create books I'm proud of.
I post to my WordPress blog weekly and create audio to go along with each post. For this, I use Audacity. Recently, I've helped clients preserve their family stories in digital text form and in audio interviews. I've had several years of experience as a newspaper columnist, and I still contribute to the local newspaper.
My passion is storytelling. I especially enjoy history around which I can weave a colourful narrative. The volunteer editing work I began in August is showing me that while I love telling stories, I'm also engaged by the editing process.
I'd love to hear about your fiction or non-fiction project. Please get in touch and let's talk about how we can make your work shine!

I’d been playing telephone tag with the Canadian Government health survey people for three weeks when, finally, one evening they caught me at home and available to talk. It had been a long day and I was exhausted. I was looking at the big picture of my life […]
Hi there everyone! I hope you’re having a good start to a fresh, new week. I’m re-posting this post today because as another school year approaches, I’m missing my identity as a teacher again! When will this let up? I’ve got a ton of other interests and a […]

Last summer, I heard a loud persistent peeping under the open living room window. There in the grass was a fledgling robin on the cusp of being old enough to fly. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s able to fly today. The fledgling’s feathers were still […]

Wow, we live in a noisy world! Even where I live, in the relative peace and quiet of a rural village, there’s enough noise to fill the silence. During the warmer months, there are lawnmowers, weed whackers, and lawn tractors buzzing away as everyone tries to keep […]
