Outdoor Winter Fun

This year, I love winter. Might as well. I’m here anyway. I’ve been skating and snowshoeing and walking outside. One evening at 6:45, we took an LED headlamp with us. With a low cloud cover and no moon glow to light the way, early evening looked more like midnight. The intense light from the tiny headlamp strapped to my forehead cast a wide, bright light. So fun to walk in the dark! I felt like we were really getting away with something, walking on a country roadside in the pitch black. This is because I don’t have much of a life. On the upside, it takes very little to amuse me. 🙂

The other evening, I watched the Netflix documentary Pamela: A Love Story about the actor and former Playboy Playmate Pamela Anderson. It’s a great watch and it’s number one on the streaming service this week in Canada. She conducted her interviews for this documentary sans makeup. Most of the time when I’m out and about in the great outdoors, I’m not wearing makeup either. I was inspired by Ms. Anderson’s bravery (in several ways) and decided to post these photos of me not wearing makeup although I love makeup. A lot. I also love the photo-editing options available on my PC.

Check out the tips of the nearly buried fenceposts in the ditch north of town. Tons of snow this year!
The wind left these interesting patterns on the snow’s surface. Gorgeous!

Just after Christmas, I spent some time snowshoeing around the schoolyard at the end of our block where the snow is deep and undisturbed except where Ski Doos made perfectly packed paths for me to follow. Right next to where I snowshoe, the local volunteer firefighters built and maintain an outdoor ice surface for the community to use. Awesome! I’ve been out skating a couple times, once in the dark with the LED headlamp.

Snowshoeing shenanigans

That’s all I got to say today, folks. I hope you’re doing well and enjoying the season wherever you are. Take care. – Lori 🙂
